“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”
                    - Douglas Adams

If there is one thing that Douglas Noel Adams (aka: DNA) is very useful for is easy sound bite quotes like the above and of course the humor contained in them and the many books from which they are drawn.

Douglas was well known for missing deadlines to the point that book publishers would book him into a hotel suite with the plan to not let him out until he had finished the book that he had commissioned.

Douglas' response to this was to take a very large number of baths to help him think. Whether they helped or not I have no idea. It is quite possible that Neil Gaiman knows the answer to know as he seems to know the answer to a great many things of which Douglas' habit of taking baths may be one of those many things, or sadly may not.

With enough words to finish this post I'll leave you with one of my favorite - but not my favorite - Douglas Adams quote:

“Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely
mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way
down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.”
                    - Douglas Adams
