I went shopping today. This shouldn’t be news or anything worth writing about, but as I generally avoid shopping if it can be a avoided then actually it is. Maybe it’s the first time I’ve left the house since last Friday, other than to walk to the end of my driveway (mailbox, trash cans) or BBQ’ing in the garden on the 4th of July. I think it is.
Everybody was wearing masks and trying to keep a safe distance from each other. I can’t see this changing, not this month, not next month. Everyone is used to wearing masks wherever you go. Given the numbers in the USA I’m hoping for a vaccine this year.
I’m coming up on the end of my first year of Solar panels. I’m really hopeful that I can come out of the year ahead. That is I have generated more power from my panels than I have consumed. It’s close.
This year I have generated 3,985 kwh and only used 3,609. Over the lifetime of the panels (one year and one day) I used 8,004 kWh but only generated 7,214. Close, but not close enough. Still that is still more than seven thousand kilowatts of energy that I generated instead of burning coal or natural gas. That, at least, is something.
