“I don't want to die now! I've got a headache!
I don't want to go to heaven with a headache,
I'd be all cross and wouldn't enjoy it!”

I do indeed have a minor headache. I've taken something for it and am sitting at my desk typing away waiting for it to pass.

The Apple AirPod Max headphones are everything you may have heard other people say, assuming that they say that they really do sound very good. Which is what you would expect for a pair of $550 headphones. Happy early birthday to me I guess.

Yes they are heavy, these are not your plastic Sony or Bose headphones. They are metal and I assume has very good magnets - which when it comes to speakers, is really very important.

And here is the really big bonus feature. A real volume control. That's right, a freaking volume control knob. No stupid swiping like you do on Sony's or clickity click click like other headphones or asking Siri to change the volume for you, it has a real, physical, you turn it and it changes the volume knob. Plus in true Apple Style you can choose which direction is volume up and which is volume down.

Super bonus points, the clarity is breathtaking. Always a good sign when you hear things you haven't heard before on tracks you have been listening to for decades. In some ways the separation is too good for listening on headphones, they should have an option for a little central overlap. Are they as good as my HD40's, I'll have to compare. Definitely interested in listening to some binaural recordings on them.
