Acaboo - A product case study (1 of n)

Another case for my portfolio. This time one for my own startup Acaboo. I have hard on this for the last couple of months and it is finally all coming together. We have put a lot of effort into finalizing the designs of the product and it is very exciting to present everything in one case.

David de Bie

19 | Business Student VU | Amsterdam, NL | Course: Calculus

ABOUT: David just came fresh from high school. He started his studies in Business Administration at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. David is originally from Utrecht and now he just found his own room in Amsterdam. During the weekend he often goes back to his parents.

David is single but likes dating via Tinder. He is a digital native and loves to use social media like Snapchat and Instagram. Plays football and tennis and a is a huge music fan. Has is own Spotify account and uses the Netflix account of his parents. Last year he went on a gap year trip to Asia with a friend.

He has a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant. Spends quite a lot of money on clothing, food and festival tickets. Parents pay for his study costs including books and utilities.

David is in his first year of studies. He is not a real hard working student. He likes to take it easy sometimes. His goal is to just pass his exams with as little effort as possible.

In the first semester, he bought all the necessary books, but he quickly found out that he didn't have to use those books too much. Focusing on a summary from Studeersnel in combination with the lectures was often enough to understand the topics. For some courses, this is not enough though. With more exact courses like calculus, finance or math practice makes perfect.

David has some problems with studying. Since there are so many distractions he finds it quite hard to concentrate for longer periods of time. During the exam week, David makes longer hours to 'save' his exam. All the work gets cranked up in the last week.

When studying he uses his laptop to search for concepts. Lecture content is also online. He reads his mandatory articles on his laptop. He doesn't print them out but just reads directly from his screen. Sometimes he does print the summaries. Printing does out makes it easier to highlight stuff.

Communication with other students happens through Facebook or WhatsApp groups. Discussing the material, especially right before an exam helps to better understand the study material.
